Artist's
Statement
My
primary interest is in drawing. I like the cartoon simplicity
of mark-making and its implied sense of magic.
My drawings reflect the nitty gritty of daily living, dream investigations,
relationship issues, as well as automatic drawing.
After a series of events, including 9-11, my Dad's passing, Hurricane
Katrina, and growing environmental damage, my gouaches and paintings
have turned to more narrative explorations.
These pieces, incorporating elements of the drawings, are primarily
about denial versus honesty, and the tension this duality creates.
How this dance plays out on interpersonal, media, and global
levels is the focus of this body of work.
